I was hired by Nancy Skolos, head of the RISD Graphic Design Dept. to design RISD’s annual series of lectures on graphic design. This poster plays on coincidental associations that the visiting companies‘ names have to everyday objects. (an antenna, underwear, a yo-yo, and a megaphone, respectively). The speakers’ backgrounds, ranging from digital media installations, font workshops, graphic design online forums, and motion graphics, translate into an abstract language of pictorial forms within this poster. When viewed from a distance each speaker’s ‘object’ blends into a linear illustration emphasizing the unified diversity within the field of graphic design.
